Fan the Fire continues to burn with “Pink in the Rink”

January 18, 2012

Check out photos from the most recent Fan the Fire event!

Public service has long been a Tufts tradition, but did you know that almost every athletic team on campus has dedicated itself to a cause?

Did you also know you and your Jumbo family have been invited to celebrate that spirit of active citizenship with prizes, free food and T-shirts, and, not to mention, the chance to come back to campus and cheer on dear old brown and blue?

Fan the Fire: Spirit, Sports, Service was launched last fall when the women’s soccer team took the field with their littlest teammate and cancer survivor, eight-year-old Joli Telusa Vega of Brockton, Mass., by their side. The series continued at a packed game in Cousen’s Gym in December as the men’s and women’s basketball teams took the court for Relay for Life.

Don’t miss out this semester when the Jumbo Hockey team hosts “Pink in the Rink” on January 21 to support cancer research and awareness. (Event details here.) With free T-shirts for the first 100 fans to fill the buses from campus, a raffle for a special edition game shirt, and limited edition pink pucks, “Pink in the Rink” is sure to keep Fan the Fire burning.

And on February 4, fans will have another chance to fill the stands as Tufts tackles Amherst on the basketball court and the Gantcher track in support of Engineers Without Borders. Another afternoon of free food, T-shirts, and prizes?
Just say yes, and register today!

Students and alumni cheer on the home team—a lucky few win prizes like Patriots tickets and a Kindle Fire.
