International Chapter Volunteer Job Description
Volunteer Responsibilities & Expectations:
Volunteers serving on a steering committee plan and coordinate social, educational and community service events. Current knowledge of the University is helpful. The steering committee members work closely with the Office of Alumni Relations to coordinate timely opportunities to work with Undergraduate Admissions volunteers (see Tufts Alumni Admissions Program) and other offices and schools that are sponsoring international trips (e.g, Travel Learn, International Board of Overseers, Parents’ Program, the President’s Office). International chapter leaders have opportunities to participate in training and professional development programs sponsored by Tufts Alumni.
Volunteers are expected to make every effort to attend events that have been planned by their respective group, chapter, committee, etc.
Volunteers are encouraged to make an annual gift--of any size--to Tufts.
Leaders of these organizations are expected to take part in and contribute to the development of succession plans for their respective group, chapter, committee, etc.
Please notify your Alumni Relations staff liaison immediately if you are no longer able to participate as a volunteer or if you need to take a leave of absence from your volunteer duties.
Term of Service:
Many chapters hold steering committee elections for new members every two years. Steering committee members can serve for several years, provided they are re-elected every two years.
Program Description:
International chapter volunteers plan and coordinate social, educational and community service events for alumni who live in a respective region/country and for students who hail from that same region/country. Each chapter has a steering committee consisting of approx. 3 volunteers, one of whom serves as the primary liaison to the Alumni Relations office.
Staff Responsibilities:
These will be customized according to the individual volunteer programs.
